Blue Tahoe satin is a stunning quartzite quarried from a bedrock deposit in Brazil. With a marble-like appearance yet far greater hardness and durability, it is ideal for kitchen countertops and other high-traffic surfaces, eliminating the scratching and etching concerns often associated with marble.
This quartzite features a blue-toned, silver background accented by soft gray veining and scattered areas of white. Some slabs may also show light oxidation along the veins, adding natural character and depth.
Due to the stone’s qualities, slabs are book-matched—consecutive slabs are cut and polished to create a mirrored effect, then kept in sequence to ensure a continuous and harmonious flow of pattern. This makes it particularly well-suited for waterfall islands, feature walls, and large-scale installations.
During polishing, an epoxy resin is applied to fill any natural pits, fissures, or micro-cracks. While rare, very small pits that cannot hold resin may reopen during finishing stages, but this does not affect the stone’s durability, maintenance, or aesthetic appeal. For added safety during handling and fabrication, a mesh backing is adhered to the back of each slab.
Because Blue Tahoe has a more open structure than some other quartzites, it requires a high-quality penetrating sealer to ensure proper protection and long-lasting performance.
