Description
Calacatta Taupe Quartzite is a natural stone featuring a creamy white background accented by rich brown veining that moves in dynamic, crisscrossing patterns. The bold contrast between the warm taupe tones and the light surface creates a dramatic, marble-like aesthetic while offering the superior strength of quartzite.
Unlike marble, Calacatta Taupe is highly resistant to scratching and etching, making it well suited for kitchen countertops and high-use surfaces. During polishing, an epoxy resin is applied to fill natural pits and fissures, enhancing the finish without affecting the stone’s durability or appearance.
This material is typically crosscut, meaning consecutive slabs may not always book-match. Projects requiring mirrored slabs should review the material prior to fabrication. For added safety during handling and fabrication, a mesh backing is applied to the back of each slab.
Due to its slightly more open structure, periodic sealing with a penetrating sealer is recommended to ensure proper protection and long-term performance.
