Smokey Pearl can have some slight movement but overall is granular in appearance. The tones in Smokey Pearl may change from shipment to shipment, varying from white to more salmon. During the polishing process, an epoxy resin is applied to the surface of the stone to fill in any natural pits, cracks or fissures that may exist. This does not affect the durability, maintenance or beauty of the stone. It is possible for some of the more minute pits that are too small to effectively hold the resin, to reopen during other finishing stages. However, this will not detract from the overall quality or appearance of the stone. As a natural stone product, it is recommended that it be sealed to extend its longevity.

It is possible that Smokey Pearl granite can have rust or oxidation spots from time to time. These rust spots are from the small amount of iron in the stone. Keeping the slabs inside and dry will help prevent further oxidation. It is recommended that Smokey Pearl be sealed to help reduce the amount of moisture that can get into the stone.
