Description

Diamond Crystal is a quartzite quarried from a pure white quartz quarry making it the whitest quartzite available on the market. This type of pure white quartz is crushed and used in the production of man-made quartz slabs. Its celestial backdrop gives the material a clean look and makes it versatile for use in a variety of designs. As pure white quartz, it is translucent and can be backlit and used as an alternative to white onyx, and is extremely hard. As an alternative to marble, its hard, resilient surface can be used for kitchen countertops without having the scratching and etching issues experienced with marble. Before the polishing process, an epoxy resin mixed with pure white, crushed quartz is used to fill small open voids that may be in a slab. An epoxy resin is also applied to the surface of the stone to fill in any natural pits that may exist. This does not affect the durability, maintenance or beauty of the stone. There may also be occasional oxidized veins within the slabs. Although the factory cleans as much as possible, occasional areas will still have some slight shadows of this veining. Due to the qualities of the stone, the slabs are book matched, meaning slab one and slab two will be cut and polished to create a mirror image of each other. These are then kept in sequence, which allows for a consistent flow in pattern. Finally, a mesh backing is adhered to the back of the stone to ensure safety while handling and fabricating the slab.

As a natural stone product, it is recommended that this be sealed to extend its longevity. This quartzite has a more open structure and therefore needs a sealer that is designed to penetrate properly to ensure that the stone is sealed.
